Description

High Grade Atlanta $500 Federal Reserve Note

Fr. 1132-F $500 1918 Federal Reserve Note PCGS About New 53.
Sold by us twice previously in May of 2001 and again in February 2005. In its first offering it was described: "A beautiful Atlanta District Five Hundred Dollar Fed. This note is well margined, bright and extremely attractive. Fewer than ten examples of Atlanta District Five Hundreds are known, and this is one of only two notes that comes from outside of a short run of Uncirculated pieces. We sold one of the notes from that run in January of 2000 for $52,250. This piece is not quite as nice as that one, but it is certainly not far behind. It has excellent margins, perfect color, good surfaces and great eye appeal." In the 2005 auction, it realized $48,875, although that is ahead of today's market, this gorgeous Atlanta $500 should still easily realize in the mid five figures. Neither major grading service has certified an Uncirculated example of an Atlanta $500.
