Description

Finest of Three Fr. 1042 Star Notes Known

Fr. 1042* $50 1914 Federal Reserve Star Note PMG Very Fine 25.
1914 FRN Star Notes are typically very scarce, if not downright rare, and that is certainly the case with the Richmond District. In spite of having four different signature combinations, only three star notes are presently known; all with the Burke-Houston signatures. This note, while having seen some time in circulation, is still quite attractive, with decent margins, bold colors, and bright, although slightly soiled, paper. This note's last recorded public auction appearance was a decade ago when it crossed the auction block for $7,050. This offering is the highest graded example of this Friedberg number known at present and should certainly test or better its previously attained price realization.
