Fr. 737 $1 1918 Federal Reserve Bank Note Choice New. Wrapped around this pleasingly original issue from the Kansas City Fed is a bit of advertising and sporting memorabilia. The advertisement from the People's State Bank encourages citizens of Lawrence, Kansas to spend their money and includes a list of supporters from the Jayhawk community. Most interestingly, the piece is dated July 4, 1919 with an inscription, "WE TRAIN WITH JESS, Sure We will Win!" in reference to Jess Williard who faced Jack Dempsey in a heavyweight bout on that day. The fight took place in Toledo, Ohio and Dempsey prevailed the winner in the third round.Auction Info
