Fancy Serial 1999999 Fr. 758 $2 1918 Federal Reserve Bank Note PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
This boldly embossed Cleveland Battleship made its first recorded appearance on Aubrey Beebe's March 15, 1956 price list of the celebrated James M. Wade collection. Its fancy serial number of D1999999A is listed on page 21. It was graded Crisp Unc Superb by Mr. Beebe and offered at $50. Its first appearance at auction was not until the year 2000 when it brought $1,540. We last auctioned this example at our April 2012 CSNS auction where it realized $4,312. PMG has graded 49 Fr. 758 pieces and of those, the example in this lot sits all alone at the very top of the grading scale. This is a perfect note for the collector who demands quality, as this beautiful example will certainly not disappoint.
