Very few sets of Essay Face and Back Red Seal FRN Composite Proofs were prepared for presentation and they are known for several different districts. The set in this lot is regarded as the only Minneapolis set and began its recorded provenance with The Harry E. Jones Collection. Hessler numbers in denomination order are 380I, 618I, 848I, 1044I, and 1244I. The face and back printings are mounted on separate cardstock with control numbers printed on the back of the cardstock. Both serial numbers, the Minneapolis district seal, and the Treasury Seal have been pasted to each Face Proof. All of these Proofs were originally presented framed and all ten have toned uniformly. The $50 Face Proof has a small edge tear at top left of center. The $100 Face Proof lacks the mounted on cardstock comment, even though it is, but it has been severed in two and the cardstock has been backed. The $100 Back Proof has a small internal tear at right. Overall, this is a great lot for the serious collector of 1914 Red Seal FRNs. (Total: 10 notes)
