One of Only Two Complete Proofs
Hawaiian Islands $20 Silver Certificate (1879) Pick 2p Face and Back Proofs. These proofs were produced during the reign of Kalakaua I, The Merrie Monarch. He was the first Hawaiian king to travel to the United States and in fact took a trip around the world. The face proof has a red serial number "00000", and there is mucilage showing in a stripe near the right edge. Only two complete proof notes are known of this Pick number. In fact, we sold the other, which lacked the red serial number "00000," in April 2008 at the CSNS auction for over $24,000. Crisp Uncirculated, 3 POC. (Total: 2 notes)Auction Info
