Fr. 1180 $20 1905 Gold Certificate PMG Gem Uncirculated 65
EPQ.A striking Technicolor note printed in a vibrant array of red, gold, orange, and black, this note is always popular with collectors and is shown to its best advantage in high states of preservation. This note is part of a small hoard of high-grade $20 1905s that William Philpott purchased from a friend who had worked at the Treasury Department. There were originally 25 notes in the group that were not consecutive, but all came from the pack that began A4043-. This note has all of the expected superlatives: bright and original paper surfaces, vibrant colors, and nice centering and margins. We sold a comparable note for $57,600 in our 2020 FUN Currency Signature auction, and believe that this note is equally worthy.
