Likely Unique "1" and "a" Fiber Paper Invert
Fr. 1371 50¢ Third Issue Justice Inverted Back Surcharge PCGS
Very Fine 30.When we last sold this note in out 2008 FUN auction, it had been newly discovered and was described, "Unique to our best knowledge. This Fr. 1371 invert was always known to have been produced since Fr. 1370 (unique) and Fr. 1373 (two known) inverts with this inverted surcharge are known to exist. The existence of those notes meant that at least one Fr. 1371 '1' and 'a' invert had existed at one time. It was one of the least likely of the unknown inverts to surface, but with the offering of this piece, the wait is over." At that time it realized over $6000. The census has not changed in the intervening years. The note, to our best knowledge, remains unique. It was not present in the Friedberg, O'Mara or Ford sales.
