Fr. 1299 25¢ Third Issue PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.These solid surcharge Fessendens, both this 1299 and its sheet-mate 1300, are just about impossible to locate in undamaged high grades. The extremely brittle paper led to splits, chips, and missing chunks that are near universal. That is not the case here as this offering is well margined with bold bronzing, nice color, and not a hint of a problem. PMG has graded just four pieces finer than this example.
