One of Two Red Back Fessenden Inverts Known
Fr. 1291 Milton 3R25.1h 25¢ Third Issue Inverted Surcharge PCGS Very Choice New 64PPQ.Only two Red Back Fessenden inverts are known, and both eluded Milt in all his searches. In all, these two and those of the Fr. 1357 persuasion are the only Third Issue Red Back inverts. This high-grade note is nicely margined, bright, and has retained all its original embossing. It is further enhanced by an almost complete plate number "74" in the left, lower corner of the face and a full red plate number "2" in the lower, left corner of the back.
