Description

Fr. 1236 5¢ Third Issue PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
The choice of Spencer M. Clark to be featured on the face of these notes created such controversy that it led to an act of Congress in 1866 explicitly forbidding the depiction of any living person on US Currency. US Postage stamps are no longer required to follow this rule since 2011. With only six examples graded higher in the PMG Population Report, this attractive bit of controversy is sure to make its new owner proud.

Estimate: $450 - up.
