Description
Fr. 1286a 25¢ Second Issue Slate Back PCGS Choice New 63PPQ.This is a wonderful example of this interesting slate back variety which does not have so much as a hint of purple. The face is nicely margined with much of the look of a Gem. The back is printed in a deep slate gray. The centering of the back has restricted the grade of the note to Choice New as it is somewhat off to the right and touches the edge. Save for the centering of the back, the note is a perfect Gem, with excellent face margins, a cleanly printed set of back surcharges and a ton of eye appeal. We sold a very similar piece in our Jan 3, 2018 sale for $1,920.
