Description
Double Denomination Experimental
Double Denomination 25¢/5¢ Fractional Currency Experimental PCGS
Choice About New 58PPQ.This incredible Double Denomination Experimental was in our April, 2008 Central States Auction as Lot 12178, where it was described, "Unique to our best knowledge, this Wide Margin Fractional Experimental has the completed 25¢ Second Issue back on one side with the purple specimen stamp across it and the two half-moon cancels. Even were the other side blank, this would be a highly important Fractional developmental piece. The other side, however, is not blank. The back has an unfinished 5¢ brown Second Issue back design which is printed rotated 180 degrees from the 25¢ face. PCGS has referred to this simply as a "Second Issue 25¢/5¢ Experimental" with no attempt at a catalog number - we are not going there either. A spectacular piece that would be a major highlight of any collection it entered." Bob acquired it at that sale for $3,450, a number that should easily be eclipsed this evening.
