"Secret Mark" Milton UNL Fr. 1267-71 15¢ Fourth Issue Back Proof PMG About Uncirculated 55."Secret marks" was a method employed by the ABNCo to distinguish different printings and also to be used in counterfeit detection. The printer's marking mentioned on the back label is a penned red line that extends from the bottom edge of this India paper Proof and ends where a "secret mark" for this design was intended.
