Fr. 1301 25¢ Fourth Issue Extremely Fine. Ordinarily this would not be lotted as a single note, but we find this piece of particular interest due to the extremely heavy pink cast across the face. For decades these pinkish notes were considered a separate variety by fractional collectors, but they were actually produced in error when the red ink of the seals contaminated the sizing compound that was applied to prolong the life of the notes. This note is one of the most extreme examples of this pink cast that we have seen.Auction Info
