Fr. 1268 15¢ Fourth Issue PMG Choice Very Fine 35.Fr. 1268 is quite a rare Friedberg number, although its rarity is suspect due to the large number of incorrect attributions. The watermark can be difficult to locate on many Fr. 1267s, and the lack of a watermark is what makes a 1268 a 1268. As the result of a dangerous combination of partial knowledge and a desire to have the scarcer variety, many, many Fr. 1267s wind up being labeled as 1268s. To carefully identify an actual 1268, the note needs to have some clear margin area in order to spot the often-difficult-to-see watermark. The presently offered note has two broad margins and two smaller but even margins, as well as excellent color, and it is without any doubt a genuine Fr. 1268. There is a bundle hole in the upper right corner as noted by the third party grading service.
