Description
10c Fourth Issue Horizontal Essay Pair Milton 4E10F.2. This horizontal pair was cut from the only known sheet at the 1986 Memphis show. This sheet of 20 was discovered intact in the fall of 1985 in Massachusetts. It made its way to the Grand Central show in New York City and was cut into pairs and singles at the Memphis show the following spring. The notes and pairs were divided up by the active Fractional Collectors in attendance at that show. Many of the notes from the edge of the sheet have tears and folds, but the internal notes were perfect. This pair has one of each. The left note is a perfect Gem, and the right note has several corner folds. From the lower right corner of the sheet, this pair has the full original selvage at the bottom and right. This cardboard proof is from the completed plate of the Fourth Issue 10c note, lacking only the seal.Auction Info
