Resembles Milton 1P5F.1i Fr. 1231FP 5¢ First Issue Face Proof Only PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.The two POCs diameters on the example in this lot measure 3 mm and not 4 mm as stated in The Encyclopedia of United States Postage & Fractional Currency by Milton R. Friedberg. Therefore, we are using the word, "resembles." Milton 1P5F.1i is listed as Unique on page 19 of the sixth edition of Milt's Encyclopedia. This number was not in Milt's personal collection that we auctioned in January 1997 and it is also not plated in the above reference. Therefore, we have either the unique note itself with slightly smaller POCs than originally described or a different second example with slightly smaller POCs. Either way, it is a rare Face Proof and is also the only Fr. 1231FP listed in the PMG Population Report. An inconsequential pencil mark is found on the unprinted back.
