Description
Fr. 1228 5¢ First Issue PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.Thinking outside of the box came in phases when it came to Postage Currency. Because the postage currency notes were issued, in part, to replace postage stamps, as a substitute for coins which had vanished from circulation during the early part of the Civil War, some early pieces were printed with perforated edges which mimicked those found on stamps. This was soon dispensed with in favor of notes with more conventional straight edges. Virtually all of the perforations on this note are completely intact. PMG mentions a Pinhole.
