Description

One of a Kind Mismatched Serial on a Large Size National

Mismatched Serial Number Error Sabina, OH - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The First National Bank Ch. # 8411 PMG Very Fine 20.
A one of a kind error note in large size Nationals, as the left bank serial number is 11200 and the right bank serial is 10200 on this mismatched serial number error note from the F plate letter position. The latest Sullivan second edition and Bart fourth edition error note references are in complete agreement on this error ,as this is the only known large size National Bank Note with mismatched serial numbers. Mismatched serial numbers on large size Nationals were only possible starting in September 1925 when the Treasury serial number at upper right was replaced with a second bank serial number. Nonetheless, large size Nationals were printed until 1929, and this allowed for plenty of time for more than one bank to have mismatched serial numbers. This did not occur and only one example of this error was saved on this Sabina charter number. It is plated on page 546 of the fourth edition of the Kelly reference. This unique item will draw considerable interest amongst our bidders.
