One of Two Stars Known for the Error Class
Missing Face Print Error Fr. Unknown-B* $10 Unknown Series
Federal Reserve Note. PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ.The face printing was entirely missed on this lovely New York star that received its normal third printing overprint. This makes for a striking error and especially so with the "*" suffixes on the ends of the serial numbers. Errors on star notes are especially elusive, as stars are meant to replace errors, not be one themselves. This error note is accompanied with a photostatic copy of a letter on Executive Currency letterhead dated July 10, 2019 and signed by Frederick J. Bart, author of United States Paper Money Errors. The letter lists the serial number, B01640547* and states that this $10 star with an undeterminable series is "one of only two star/replacement notes, of any denomination, missing the 2nd/face print. The other example, also a $10, grades Very Fine, making it a distant second to this example certified and graded by PMG as Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ." In summary, this error star is almost unique for any denomination for the missing face printing error class and also the highest graded of the two known examples. It surely is destined to become a part of another great error collection.
