Description

Multiple Impression Error Fr. 1976-F $5 1981 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Extremely Fine 40.
A non-standard multiple impression error due to the fact that the second back printing is inverted. Other non-standard multiple impression errors may have the extra printing at an angle, on the wrong side of the note, or even of a different denomination. This error type is discussed in the second edition of US Error Note Encyclopedia by Stephen M. Sullivan on pages 197-214. In fact, the Atlanta error $5 in this lot is the plate note on page 212 as an example of the second back printing inverted error. Even though only the back is plated, with the help of a strong magnifying glass, it has the same back plate number as the error in this lot, "610." Also, the note and the plate have an identical small spot of ink in the bottom margin at center.
