Missing Overprint Error - Insufficient Inking Fr. 60 $2 1917
Legal Tender PCGS Banknote Uncirculated 62.A fantastic error in large size as the entire red overprint of both serial numbers and the Treasury Seal is missing on this Uncirculated deuce due to the ink reservoir running dry. We can recall offering only one other large size note with any semblance of this error type. This occurred in September 2016 when we auctioned a Fr. 91 $5 Legal Tender that was missing its red Treasury Seal, yet both of its red serial numbers were intact. The example in this lot is a much more dramatic overprint error as we are unable to find any traces of red ink on this note that is destined for a great collection.
