Gutter Fold Error Fr. 2076-L $20 1988A Federal Reserve Note. PMG Extremely Fine 40 EPQ.A major gutter fold error on the face running from the top edge to the bottom edge and measuring 23 mm in width at is widest point is observed on this plate position C2 note on San Francisco. Also, the back displays part of the below adjacent note. A look through our archives, the Sullivan error reference, the Bart error reference, and even the 1978 fourth edition of Price Guide for the Collector of Modern United States Paper Money Errors by Tom Delorey and Fred Reed, found very few gutter fold errors that rival the example in this lot. Overall, this $20 is a striking example for this error category.
