Description

Printed Fold Error Fr. 1935-L $2 1976 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
A large printed fold error on a H4 plate position note with the back of the note folded over on to the face. The back of the note is obstructing almost all of Jefferson's portrait. Only his right shoulder and a small amount of his hair remains visible. Printed on the back are the first nine characters of the right serial number, leaving off the A suffix letter. Also, most of the Treasury seal is printed on the back. This is the highest third party graded example of this error type on a $2 FRN that we have auctioned. Errors on $2s are rare and desirable. In fact, we have only auctioned two other examples of this error type on this denomination. Both of those errors were also in the drastic category like our current offering. Those two printed fold over errors crossed our auction block in January 2009 and April 2016. This shows that the waiting time for a printed fold over error of this magnitude on the $2 denomination is measured in years.
