Description

Dramatic Foldover $50

Fold Over Error Fr. 2126-B $50 1996 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
A dramatic fold over error on a New York $50 from plate position F2. Sheets of 32 would be cut in half vertically after the back and face printings. The 16-subject half sheets would then receive their overprinting with the serial numbers, district indicators, and two different seals. After this last printing step took place, this error note's half sheet suffered a serious fold over down to the bottom edge before the half sheet was cut into individual notes. Plate position F2 is in the right-hand column and is also the third note from the bottom. Therefore, this large fold over shows parts of three different backs. This lot contains a great error on one of the tougher denominations for printing miscues. The last fold over error example we auctioned with parts of three different backs was a $1 Series 1974 note in Gem CU that realized $2,070 in September 2006.
