Description

Bold & Original Manouvrier Note

T12 $5 1861 PF-1 Cr. 46.
Just 15,556 examples of this scarce Confederate design were printed. The printing was executed by Jules Manouvrier, a prominent New Orleans lithographer and printer. Because of its light blue color, the back design quickly faded on most notes, and the simplistic design caused the Confederate government to not renew its contract with the printer. The highly coveted design resulted in many notes being restored or altered. This piece is a pleasing, problem free example that is bold on front and back. The last note to rival this eye appeal and condition of this piece was a PMG Very Fine 25 that saw a realization of $4,700 in our FUN Signature Auction last year. We would not be surprised to see that realization again here this evening. PCGS Very Fine 25.
