Description

T42 $2 1862 PF-5 Cr. 337 PCGS Apparent Choice About New 58.
The $2s printed by Blanton Duncan were unusual on a couple of counts. They were one of the very few CSA types to have a patriotic vignette (in this case, the South striking down the North) and were smaller than the traditional bank note size of the day. Had this reduced size for small denominations been adopted, the paper and ink savings would have been significant. PCGS mentions a small repair at left by the plate position number 9.
