The nice AU T41 in this lot features a portrait of John C. Calhoun, advocate for states' rights at left, workers in the fields at center, and a representation of the Confederacy as emulated by Columbia at right. One blue issuance stamp dated January 10, 1863, is present on the back. This stamp originates from Depositary T(haddeus) Sanford of Montgomery, AL.
