Agent Endorsement "J.S.K. Bennett" T40 $100 1862 PF-2 Cr. 306/307 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.Period documents indicate that Bennett was appointed by the Treasury Department as a General Agent of the Produce Loan Office. He was in charge of making collections on subscriptions and purchasing cotton for the Confederate government in the state of South Carolina. The endorsement reads JSK Bennett / B[ro]k[er] Charleston. Two Augusta IP stamps suggest that the note probably sat out most of the war in a bank vault or strong box. At present, it is the only known example of this endorsement.
