Description

CT39/290A Counterfeit $100 1862.
This quality lithograph counterfeit has written signatures and also a hand-written date of July 4, 1862. An easy-to-remember diagnostic of this counterfeit is that six windows appear on the third passenger coach rather than seven, as on the genuine. The plate letter is Ab, and this variety is classified as Rarity 6, estimated 17 - 32 to exist, in Counterfeit Currency of the Confederate States of America, by George R. Tremmel. Pedigreed to the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, this PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25 example has some small edge splits and tears.
