Description

"Issued at Little Rock" T40 $100 1862 PF-1 Cr. 298 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
At the time of this note's official issuance from Little Rock, AR, on December 26, 1862, the city served as Arkansas' capital. It operated in this capacity until it was captured by Union forces under the command of Major General Frederick Steele on September 10, 1863. This capture brought to close the Union's Little Rock Campaign, which began on August 1, 1863. The capital then moved to Washington, AR. Only one IP stamp appears on the back of this piece which details that interest was paid to January 1, 1863. We have auctioned just four examples of this anonymous endorsement on the back of a T40 previously, with this note marking our fifth offering.
