T8 $50 1861 PF-8 Cr. 20 PCGS Banknote About Unc 55.
With Southern Bank Note Company having problems delivering sufficient numbers of notes, the Department of Treasury turned to the hometown firm of Hoyer & Ludwig to produce lithographed notes such as this $50 to fill the void. A total of 123,564 examples of this $50 were issued between July 29 and October 22, 1861. This variety is printed on thin bank note paper with for printed before Treasr. PCGS Banknote mentions non-period collector information written on the back in pencil.
