T7 $100 1861 PF-4 Cr. 11 PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.The T7 was the first $100 to be issued by the Confederacy that did not bear interest. Emitted from July 29 through October 22, 1861, this Hoyer & Ludwig production features a portrait of President George Washington at lower left and a vignette of Ceres, Roman goddess of agriculture and the harvest, floating in the clouds with her daughter Proserpina, goddess of the Earth. Because of its lower issuance number of 37,155 examples, and due to the fact that it was interest bearing and thus circulated extensively, Uncirculated and Choice Uncirculated T7s are far more difficult to obtain than T8 $50 and T9 $20 representatives of the same grade level. They are even more challenging to acquire in Choice Uncirculated condition than higher grade T5 $100 and T6 $50 notes. Our current offering features a full frame, also tough to locate on this type, and bold signatures and serial numbers. PMG comments on evidence of a previous mounting which is nearly impossible to discern through the third party holder.
