T35 $5 1861. The famous "Indian Princess" note, the rarest Confederate type and a note that is nearly always found in low grades or with repairs. Like most this one from the Kennedy collection has had a little help, here in the form of a number of expert restorations that have reinforced the edges and a couple of small missing pieces. Still nicer than the last example of this type that we sold, a similarly restored VG that was a bit rougher in appearance and still brought, in September 2001, a bit over $8,500. This Very Good example is nicer in appearance and, in a much stronger market for Confederates, is apt to realize much more. As with any offering of this rare and desirable type, serious Confederate type collectors will generate intense competition that will likely end with a winning bid in the range of. . .Auction Info
