Description

T33 $5 1861 PF-19 Cr. 257b PMG About Uncirculated 55.
Issued from March 13 through June 19, 1862, the T33 Confederate Treasury Note was printed at first by Leggett, Keatinge & Ball and continued later by Keatinge & Ball after Leggett was forced out of the business. Several overprint color variations are known to experts, with our current offering bearing a lighter green tint. At center is a portrait of Christopher Gustavus Memminger, the first Confederate Secretary of the Treasury, and at right, Minerva clutches a spear. Printed on bright paper watermarked "FIVE," this example is bested by just 13 others across all varieties, according to the PMG Population Report.

Estimate: $3,000 - up.
