T33 $5 1861 PF-19 Cr. 257b PMG About Uncirculated 53.The T33 $5, issued from March 13 through June 19, 1862, is very similar to the T34 in design, with Memminger's portrait at center and Minerva at right. The T33, however, bears a green tint on the face which was applied in a range of color tones. Our current offering showcases a light, yellow-green tint, and it is printed on paper watermarked "FIVE" in block letters. More than five reams of this watermarked paper were acquired from the SBNCo by the Confederacy and utilized by Keatinge & Ball for this type. This piece features a full frame and is quite lovely for its achieved grade, with excellent color which has earned it PMG's "Great Color" accolade. Very little wear is noticed, though PMG does comment on evidence of a previous mounting.
