Description

T31 $5 1861. The last of the red and black issues printed by the American Bank Note Company branch in New Orleans (otherwise known as the "Southern Bank Note Company" during the unpleasantries of conflict), this type features outstanding engraving and a beautiful design that has been appreciated by generations of collectors. This example from the Kennedy collection, although grading only Fine, has great color and eye appeal and is absolutely flawless for the grade. It also bears serial letter "C" and is thus an example of the much scarcer Cr. 245 variety.
