Description

Original T3 Montgomery $100

T3 $100 1861. The Type 3 Montgomery $100 has long been considered one of the most beautiful Confederate notes. Featuring a train vignette in the center and Columbia at left, notes of this type have survived in such limited numbers (a little over 150 examples are currently known) that there are never enough to go around among the many collectors who desire one. This note from the Kennedy collection has a few unimportant pinholes and a couple of small ink smears, as well as a couple of interesting endorsements on the back, but it is perfectly natural and has not been enhanced in any way. The colors are exceptionally bright for the grade and the signatures are bold and sharp. Slightly nicer than the example we sold in our January 2003 FUN CAA sale, and likely to command a higher winning bid. Fine-Very Fine.
