Description

Missing Left Plate Number 2

T20 $20 1861 PF-5 Cr. 141 PMG Very Fine 20.
This design was a workhorse denomination, with over 2,834,000 notes issued between June 21, 1862 and December 8, 1862. As a result lithographic stones were prone to wear. In this case, the plate number 2, normally located just to the left of the upper left 20 counter has disappeared. Fricke lists this as plate state V (Page 205, 2014 Field Edition). 3-5 examples were known to Fricke in 2014.
