Description
T15 $50 1861 PF-1 Cr. 79 PMG Very Fine 25 Net.Under the name of Southern Bank Note Co., an old name from the 1840s, the New Orleans Branch of the ABNCo designed this $50 using prewar vignettes of a passenger train at center, Hope at left, and Justice at right with a red protector panel at lower center. 14,860 notes were issued between January 8 and May 15, 1862. Production was emphatically stopped when New Orleans fell to Union forces at the end of April, 1862. PMG mentions that the note has been cancelled, and that there is a restoration that involves very small sealed edge tears and splits on all four edges, as well as repairs above the first rail car and a tiny lower left corner tip that has been replaced.
