Description
T12 $5 1861 PF-1 Cr. 48 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20.While Jules Manouvrier printed a number of different notes for state governments and private concerns during the early part of the Civil War, this was his only foray into printing notes for the Confederate government. The note at the time of its issue was unique, because it had no vignettes but did have a printed back design. Manouvrier's careless shipping methods led to a $10 design (which has never been seen) being withdrawn from circulation and his contract being terminated. This example is well printed with decent margins and a darker blue back design. PCGS Banknote mentions small edge repairs which are not overly distracting.
Estimate: $1,200 - up.
