Red Trans-Mississippi Stamp T36 $5 1861 PF-4 Cr. 278 PMG Very Fine 20.
A Trans-Mississippi note with the February 1864 date and of the red circular stamp variety. General E. Kirby Smith ordered that the earlier notes be re-issued because the Trans-Mississippi Department was in desperate need of funds and did not have the means to print their own engraved notes. This example was previously mounted.
