CT22/152D Counterfeit $10 1861.
This counterfeit is based on an Samuel Upham woodcut. Besides the crudeness of the woodcut, other characteristics of this particular counterfeit are plate letter C, printed signatures, and a hand-written serial number. This is the variety without the grove of pine trees in the background. See Counterfeit Confederate Currency by George R. Tremmel where it is rated a Rarity 5, 33 - 64 estimated to exist. The note has split in half along its vertical center fold. Extremely Fine.
