Description

Virginia October 20, 1777 $2/3 PCGS Choice New 63.
With only 23 examples enumerated in the Track & Price census, there is only one finer example than this note. The Act of October 20, 1777 authorized £1,700,000 in legal tender Treasury Bills that were redeemable by December 1, 1784. All of the notes were printed on heavy rag paper that contained blue fibers and mica flakes. Featuring the Virginia coat of arms as on all denominations ranging from $1/6 to $15, this $1 note is quite fresh with bright paper with decent margins, darkly inked design details, and bold signature of L. Wood. We last offered this piece in August 2021 when it realized $360.
