Description
Virginia May 24, 1760 £5 PMG Very Fine 25 Net.The only note from the entire issue graded by PMG. The Net grade is due to a missing upper right corner and for being repaired, but the repairs are minor and the note displays nicely as a VF. It has strong and complete signatures of Robert Carter Nicholas and Peyton Randolph. There were three notes from this issue in the massive F.C.C. Boyd-John Ford holdings, all grading from AG to VG, and all selling for just under a $1,000. All three notes were from the denominations that had a printing of seven thousand each. The £5 is the highest denomination of the issue with a printing of only 1,700 and this example could very well be unique as we can find no record of another.
