Description
Virginia July 17, 1775 20s PMG Fine 12.When supplies of paper to print the "small size" notes ran out, authorization was given to throw leftover "Ashby" notes that had been printed in England and issued in 1773. A mere 8,999 20s notes were authorized in this manner. This circulated example retains solid paper for the grade with just some residue on its back.
