Description

South Carolina February 8, 1779 $90 PMG About Uncirculated 55.
The $90 design features an ancient soldier stand, holding a spear with the motto ARMIS CONCURRITE CAMPO (Assemble the field of arms) while the back has a large vignette of Hercules strangling a lion. This example is printed on bright paper and is fully framed with bold signatures of Theodore Gaillard, Jr., George Cooke, and Charles Adkins. This note was printed using a back plate that had not yet been strengthened as indicated by the lack of any marks in the ribbon under the "D" in "DOLLARS." PMG indicates that the note was previously mounted.

Estimate: $3,500 - up.
