Description

Pennsylvania April 25, 1776 2s PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
Incredible signatures of Andrew Tybout and Josiah Hewes are seen on this example, which is arguably as pretty as any 1776 Pennsylvania note that your cataloger has laid his eyes upon. Abundantly margined on all sides, this note has nearly perfect centering. Each of the side columns has cuts "Two Shillings 24P," and the back shows a nature print with cut "2" to its left and "S" to its right. This issue was printed by Hall and Sellers in 1776. PMG has only graded a couple 65 EPQ notes for the larger denominations from this series. The small-change denominations are available at the furthest reaches of the grading scale; such is not the case for the whole denomination notes. In our FUN auction, we sold another 2s note at this same grade level that scaled the $2,000 plateau.
