Description
North Carolina November 21, 1757 £5 PCGS Apparent Very Good 10.PCGS incorrectly identifies this note as a "hand-written" date issue of 1756-1757. It is actually, an issue of the November 21, 1757 Session Act. While the dates of this issue were also handwritten (2nd of December 1757 here), the distinction is the printed "Date hereof, to the Tenth Day of December next,..." which is the date on which the 6% interest would be paid payable for this issue. As a result, this is more correctly identified as an NC-94. This example is still with us - barely. With splits and damage, the note was undoubtedly saved from total destruction by being backed so that it could continue in service. The backing is covered in period annotations and endorsements.
